Payment: Card payment is available almost everywhere. If you intend to leave a tip (and there is no service charge on the bill), it is typically necessary to tell the waiter before the card payment so they can add the amount; leaving a cash tip on the table is increasingly rare.

Tap water: Most restaurants provide free tap water upon request, but premium places may only serve bottled mineral water.

The quality of the "traditional Hungarian restaurant" category is extremely mixed. Places located in the busiest tourist streets (e.g., Váci Street), working with multilingual, picture menus and street touts, can often be overpriced and represent lower quality than bistros located a few streets further in, which are also visited by locals.
