Compromises & Venues ▾
Incluson rule: The venues on the map lists operate consistently, fit their category descriptions, and showed no credible complaints regarding overpricing (tourist traps) at the time of the last update. The lists do not contain paid placements. (Last updated: August 2026).
Food allergies in canteens: The most common dishes in canteens (such as vegetable stews and meat stews) are prepared according to the rules of traditional Hungarian cuisine (for ingredients, refer to the section on What to Eat in Budapest). Since wheat flour and sour cream are often used for thickening, the selection for those sensitive to gluten and lactose can be severely limited in these places.
The offering of daily menus changes daily. Restaurants rarely update these on their official websites; the most accurate information is typically found on the restaurant's social media pages or on the board at the entrance.
