MOL Bubi (the apple-green public bike) is a cost-effective alternative, but it is restricted to its stations (docks). Shared electric scooters are more expensive but offer greater flexibility for shorter distances.

In the downtown areas of Pest and Buda, shared e-scooters and bicycles may only be parked at designated, green-painted micromobility points (Mobi-points). If left elsewhere, the application will not allow the rental to be terminated and will deduct a penalty fee.

Budapest's cycling network is not uniform. Protected lanes separated by physical barriers (e.g., on the Grand Boulevard / Nagykörút, Üllői út) present lower risks, but in many places, the bicycle lane is merely a yellow line painted on the edge of car traffic, which requires heightened attention without urban cycling experience.
