Viewpoints & Panoramas

The hills on the Buda side (Gellért Hill, János Hill) provide free, natural panoramas but require physical exertion or longer travel. The built viewpoints on the Pest side (e.g., the dome of the Basilica) charge an admission fee but can be reached by elevator or a shorter climb.

For photographing the Pest side (Parliament, bridges) from the Buda side, the afternoon and early evening hours can be suitable, when the setting sun illuminates the buildings.

At high-altitude points (especially on Gellért Hill and in the Castle District), the wind and temperature difference can be significant compared to the downtown streets.
